DNS Records

SPF Record

Authorizes sending servers:

v=spf1 include:sendgrid.net ~all

DKIM Record

Signs emails cryptographically:

selector._domainkey.yourdomain.com

DMARC Record

Policy for failed authentication:

v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.com

Setup Process

Step 1: Add Domain

  1. Go to Email MarketingSettings
  2. Click Domain Settings
  3. Enter your domain
  4. Click Add Domain

Step 2: Add DNS Records

Copy the provided records to your DNS:

  1. Log into your DNS provider
  2. Add TXT records for SPF, DKIM
  3. Add CNAME if required
  4. Wait for propagation (up to 48h)

Step 3: Verify

  1. Return to Domain Settings
  2. Click Verify Domain
  3. Check status turns green

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

  • DNS not propagated - Wait 24-48 hours
  • Wrong record format - Check for extra spaces
  • Missing records - Ensure all records added
  • TTL too high - Lower TTL for faster updates

Verification Failed

  1. Check record values exactly
  2. Use DNS lookup tools
  3. Contact support if persistent

Best Practices

  • Use subdomain for marketing (e.g., mail.yourdomain.com)
  • Keep transactional on separate domain
  • Monitor reputation regularly
  • Maintain clean lists
